Drainage

Water is one of the greatest hurdles for construction and infrastructure; this is where drainage comes in. Drainage systems provide a pre-emptive measure against costly basement damage and prevent pooling on your lawn.

The most common drainage system is the French Drain. First a trench is dug and 3/4 Clear Gravel is added, next the perforated pipe gets laid and connected, typically to a downspout or sump-pump. Then, more gravel is added to fill the remainder of the trench and landscape fabric placed on top to avoid mixing soils with the clear gravel. The drain will typically lead to a pop-up valve or in rare cases a French Pit.

At Ravasco Landscaping we take great pride in building a drainage system that will last. We ensure this by digging a deeper and wider trench than our competitors, this allows us to add more gravel that will ultimately keep the water flowing and prevent soil from clogging the pipes. We also use commercial-grade landscape fabric between any soil-gravel contact area in order to stop the soil from mixing in with the gravel.

With many drainage problems a simple drain won’t do the trick, sometimes you need to regrade the yard in order to allow for better surface-level water flow.
